Product Description

Al₂O₃ Buchner Filter is available in two material grades—standard laboratory porcelain and 95% high-purity alumina—and come in a full range of diameters from 60 mm to 300 mm. They feature an integrally molded porous filter plate and are fully glazed on both the interior and exterior surfaces. The ceramic body is acid- and alkali-resistant, impermeable, and does not leach impurities that could contaminate the filtrate; the filter holes are evenly distributed, securely holding the filter paper in place and preventing material leakage. The 95% alumina version offers superior strength, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature tolerance, meeting the requirements for filtering high-purity materials. With standardized dimensions, these funnels form a perfect seal with conventional vacuum filtration flasks; they are robust, durable, and suitable for long-term, repeatedly usage.

 

Product Structure

The ceramic Filtration Funnel features an integrated design and consists primarily of the following components:

  1. Funnel body: a flat, cylindrical ceramic chamber with smooth inner walls to facilitate liquid flow and cleaning.
  2. Fixed perforated Plate: an integrated porous filtration plate at the base with evenly distributed apertures; it supports the filter paper and ensures uniform filtration.
  3. Cylindrical outlet: a slender outlet tube that connects to the vacuum filtration system, ensuring stable transmission of negative pressure.
  4. Glazed surfaces: both the interior and exterior surfaces (excluding the rim) are glazed, offering excellent resistance to acids and alkalis as well as ease of cleaning.

Instructions

1.Prepare the filter paper: cut a circular piece of filter paper with a diameter slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the funnel.

 

2.Install the filter paper: lay the filter paper flat on the perforated plate and moisten it with a small amount of solvent so it adheres snugly.

 

3.Assemble the apparatus: insert the funnel into the neck of the vacuum filtration flask, seal it with a rubber stopper, and connect the side port to a vacuum pump.

 

4.Pour in the sample: turn on the vacuum pump and slowly pour the mixture to be filtered into the funnel.

 

5.Collect the solid: the liquid is drawn into the filtration flask, while the solid remains on the filter paper.

 

6.Wash the crystals: if washing is required, rinse the surface of the solid with a small amount of pure solvent after filtration is complete.

 

Precautions

  1. Do not heat directly: although the ceramic Büchner funnel is heat-resistant, it is designed for filtration, not direct heating.
  2. Avoid rapid temperature changes: despite good thermal stability, extreme temperature differences can still cause cracking.
  3. Match filter paper size: the filter paper diameter should be slightly smaller than the funnel's inner diameter to prevent leakage at the edges.
  4. Control vacuum level: adjust the vacuum level appropriately when filtering viscous samples to prevent damage to the filter paper.
